Summer is here! During the summer months we can all benefit from more liquids and an increased consumption of raw, fresh, local fruits and vegetables to help cool the body. The diet should be made up of lighter fare such as raw vegetables salads, cool soups, while reducing the intake of animal protein and heavier fats. Save heavier meals for the cooler parts of the day. Keep well-hydrated with increased water and herbal teas. Look for foods that are in season now, and what’s local in your area. These foods are picked fresher and contain more nutrients and taste better!
