This was supposed to be just another Half for me. More of a training run than a race, in fact. I had agreed to pace a good friend in the Toronto Half Marathon and help her reach her goal of breaking 1h50 (which we did). I was prepping for my goal race of a Half Ironman in early June so it was important for me not to run this too hard, as I didn’t want to affect the last couple weeks of hard training I had in front of me. It was fun to help her achieve her goal which was was enough of a reason to be pleased, but it was later pointed out to me by one of my running clinic members that I ran now run 21- 21s! That’s right I thought, this was my twenty first time running the 21 kilometer race. As I reflect on that, I’ve only been running for about 9 years, and only running half marathons for 7 of those. Next up, Mooseman 70.3, my big Triathlon for this year.
