What to Eat Before a Workout: How to Fuel Without the GI Trouble
September 25, 2026Know your numbers. Build a hydration strategy that’s specific to you.
Athletes can lose dramatically different amounts of sodium in their sweat. Yet most hydration recommendations are based on generalized guidelines rather than your individual physiology.
A sweat concentration test gives you objective information about your sweat sodium concentration, helping you make smarter decisions about how you hydrate during training and racing.
What the Test Involves
You’ll sit comfortably for approximately 30–45 minutes while a small patch on your forearm is stimulated to produce sweat. We’ll collect the sample and analyze it.
No needles. No exercise. Simple and non-invasive.
The Result
The test gives you a number. The value is knowing what to do with it. You leave knowing how much sodium you lose in your sweat, and what to actually do with that information.
Do I Need to Retest?
No. Your sweat sodium concentration is largely genetic, so this is a one-time test. Once you know your number, you know it. No need to repeat it season after season.
When Should I Get Tested?
Anytime. Early season, in-season, or right before a big race — there’s no bad time to stop guessing and start training with real data.
Who Gets Tested?
Amateur, elite, and pro athletes across a wide range of sports use sweat testing to understand their bodies and build a personalized hydration strategy — including triathlon, running & ultra, cycling, swimming, CrossFit, tennis, hockey, soccer, and motorsports.
