I was approached by Katie’s dad to coach her as a birthday gift for an upcoming race. Katie was looking to improve her running and put an end to some nagging injuries holding her back. We worked together on her training plan and a nutrition plan to support her busy lifestyle. Katie was training for her longest race yet, Around The Bay, but with the recent race cancellations, she has turned her focus on getting faster in the half distance for now until the fall. Working with Tara has exceeded my expectations. When I started, I was recovering from various injuries and struggling to find a consistent schedule for running in my crazy life. After having my third baby in my forties my body did not recover the way it used to. I have learned to be patient with my progress and truly train consistently. I have run 2 half marathons since working with Tara and got a PB in my last race. I felt completely in control and strong right to the end of the race. I have overcome my need to train hard all the time. I have been able to do this year of training without any major injuries! My running group is so impressed with my progress and the focus I have now and one of them is now interested in coaching. I really enjoy the flexibility that Tara has when scheduling my workouts. She is so responsive to questions and always has educated, sensible answers. You have to really trust your coach to make this process work and over the last year I have developed a trusting relationship with Tara.
